Maiden, Metallica, Metal, Music
You tell me we can stop the rain
you tell me that we all can change
you tell me that we can find the thing to wash the tears away
- Iron Maiden, Rainmaker, Dance of Death
no nothing else matters
never care for gives they say
never care for the games they played
I never care for what they do
I never care for what they know
and I know
- Metallica, Nothing Else Matters
Is it right to believe
In the need to be free
It's a time when you die
And without asking why
Can't you see what they do
They are grinding things down
They are taking our land
That belongs to the clans
Not alone with a dream
Just a want to be free
With a need to belong
I am a clansman
Freedom
- Iron Maiden, The Clansman, Virtual XI
When you think that we've used all our chances
And the chance to make everything right,
Keep on making the same old mistakes
Makes untipping the balance so easy
When we're living our lives on the edge
Say a prayer on the book of the dead
We're blood brothers
We're blood brothers
- Iron Maiden, Blood Brothers, Brave new World
Fly, on your way, like an eagle
Fly as high as the Sun
On your way, like an eagle
Fly, touch the Sun
- Iron Maiden, Flight of Icarus
So understand
Don't waste your time
Always searching for those wasted years
Face up...make your stand
And realize you're living in the golden years
- Iron Maiden, Wasted Years
It always happens when one types something like this. I ultimately forgot my song list which I wanted to share with you… Anyways download the songs and listen to it completely. Give metal a try. It ain’t that bad as the other half of the world exaggerates .

Mangalore Gavel Club – “the den for organized fun”
The Mangalore Gavel Club has in its closely knit fold, a bunch of youth who are driven to be outspoken, creative and most important of all, with a deep desire to take part in a focused movement which aims at youth empowerment and organized fun.
The gavel club is grateful to the principal of St.Aloysius Pre-University College who has been kind enough to give a classroom for the regular meetings at no cost. The mangalore gavel club does not have budgets and accounts for we do not deal in cash at all, instead we only trade smiles and back slaps. The club is grateful to the toastmaster clubs of the city who have time and again provided guidance, inspiration and mentoring for the club to reach its present stature. Being predominantly constituted by students the club largely lives in its glorious present without fathoming the action packed events that have gone by in the earlier years by the earlier members who have moved away following the course of time. The club nevertheless gratefully salutes the unknown faces that have left the club but left behind a formidable legacy for us to take forward and pass on in due course.
We meet at 10.30am every Sunday morning at "St, Aloysius PU College”,K.S Rao Road, Mangalore. There is an average attendance of 15 per meeting. The members are in the age group of 15-20 years and come from the degree and Pre-University colleges of the city like St.Aloysius, Canara, St.Agnes, MAPS and so on.
The meetings are usually based on a theme. Some of the themes that are fresh in our minds have been Social Networking, National Integration, Bio-Diversity, Laughter and many more.
A typical meeting features the following events in strictly the same order: Sergeant-at-arms opening remarks, president’s welcome, and toastmasters introducing the theme and the prepared speeches and their respected evaluations, table – topic sessions, general evaluator’s time, followed by the special events. All these events are conducted in a tight time schedule spanning a little over two hours. While every meeting is action packed, the members look forward to the meetings featuring special events like debates, turncoats, mock personalities, stress interviews, group discussions etc.
Besides the weekly meetings the members have networked themselves through an open group in Facebook at the link http://www.facebook.com/groups/gavelclubmangalore/. The members often involve themselves in the weekly online debates and post words which can be used as “Word of the Day” for the regular meetings. The photographs of the meetings are uploaded and appreciated through their witty remarks. Details of forthcoming events are posted along with proposed themes and other functionary details of regular meetings. Members communicate electronically using the email address gavelclubmangalore@groups.facebook.com.
Following an internal logo designing competition, the creative artists in a club has put their heads together to design a unique logo for the club. The Gavel Club has many a fan among our group as the club has made a marked difference to their levels of self-confidence, self-expression and motivation. That is the reason we feel the members faithfully turn up for the meetings executing their respective responsibilities volunteered by them. This closely knit group acts like a peer group helping every young member to channelize his creative talent in a positive direction.
The club members take pride in associating themselves with this focused group which has a win-win formula for each of them.

College life–should we change for others???
Yes the next big thing that could happen to you after high school is College. A place for freedom, a place to “interact” with chicks, a place to bunk, no more compulsory classes, no uniform all kinds of awesomeness that you could ever think of.
And no doubt even I was in this fantasy like the rest. I was a member of the 22nd BSBAi Commerce batch. I realized that it was the most elite batch in college. As classes rolled on I started witnessing to something which I really funny. The classmates whom I knew for two months were no longer the same as how I met.
Well it is true people start differentiating people as time goes on. You slowly get kicked out from the group with whom you usually hang about. Cold wars arise, just because you raised your voice against your friend for a small petty reason. Some reasons are really strong and some of them are seriously stupid. Of what I observe in some of my college mates is especially girls is that they start to copy the behavior of the friend, just to “be a part of the group”. Some of them (in guys) be a part of “the group” by getting into unhealthy habits like talking in class, playing pranks in class, bunking, smoking, drinking, drugs etc. Some of them try to act hep, crying for no reason or for some stupid reason that no one cares about because it really doesn’t matter, some of them over reacting for petty things like jumping like kangaroos(even the kangaroos don’t jump like that) for some small Rs.5 chocolates or some times just speaking to the opposite gender in private, in such a way that it is “noticed”. And some of them changing hair styles and start to show off by touching it now and then.
According to me what I think of all this nonsense is Bullshit!!!. Its stupidity at its heights. My question is why should we change for others?? That too in such a pathetic way? Yes you should change, but in the way that it is beneficial to you, that would be productive to you and not others. Its ok if we are selfish to make this decision.
I always believe in this statement “NATURALNESS IS THE BEST”. And mark my words you should try to apply this statement in you. The results are amazing. Yes we are in college. Let us celebrate on the fact that you have reached this place successfully. And the college is here for you and only you. It helps you, guides you to your success in your specific field. So what I would like to convey to you is that its always good to be yourself for yourself and not for someone else. I always admire my favorite band IRON MAIDEN not for their songs but for their attitude. They have a really attitude that is respected by all bands, fans in the world. They are world’s number one band because of this attitude. I have learnt from them is to be you. Always cheerful, happy. Smiling especially. Do things in your own way. That’s what makes your contribution a unique one. Yes there are people who can always help you in which method you want to go with. Keep up your attitude. Because in the end whatever happens it happens for your own good.
